FAQs

  • What is it like to attend a church service?

Our services tend to last 60 minutes. They include a time of singing, a Biblical message, a time to celebrate communion, an occasional baptism, and a benediction. Our teaching is Gospel-focused, biblical exposition that is culturally relevant and worthy of note-taking. We have study guides at our Welcome Center for each sermon series, and we recommend you check out our Media page to get a sense for what to expect.

Since you may find yourself meeting a few new people and wanting to chat, plan to be here for an hour and a half. Don’t be shy to linger a little longer after the service – we have free coffee and donut holes in the gym!

  • Can I watch services online if I can’t attend in person?

Absolutely! If for any reason you can’t make our in-person service, you can always watch it live on YouTube. We also post all of our previous sermons online so that you can refer back to them or share them with a friend or family member. Check out our Media page!

  • What type of music do you sing?

Our bands play a variety of modern worship music and updated hymns. We aim to make our time of singing together truly Christ-focused.

  • What should I wear?

Come exactly as you are – our services are casual, so wear what you’re comfortable in and you’ll fit right in.

  • Where do I park?

Free parking is available for you in any of our lots on the south and west sides of our building between E 3rd & E 4th St. (There are a few alleyway spots that are unavailable, but marked by clear signage.) Our main entrance faces E Walnut Street.

If our lot fills up, street parking is free on Sundays! On other days, you can pay for metered parking at the pay stations or with the Park DSM app. Street parking is always free on the Court Ave, Locust St, and Grand Ave bridges.

Here you can view an interactive map with the nearest parking garages and meter spaces.

  • Is there anything for my kids?

Yes! We offer Kids Classes for children 3 years old through 3rd grade during each service. These classes provide a safe, fun, Christ-centered place for your child to learn and grow.

We recommend checking in your child before service at the Kids Check-In stations. You can drop off your child in their classroom right away, or keep them with you during the opening worship songs. After the music, you can bring your child to their classroom for the remainder of service.

  • Is childcare available for my baby?

Yes! If you have a child who is 2 years old or younger, you can check them into our nursery. The nursery is stocked with toys for kids to play with and books to read to them. In the nursery, we maintain a ratio of at least 1 volunteer to 5 kids. Our volunteers are well-trained regular attenders of Walnut Creek who have passed a background check.

  • How do I check in my child for nursery or Kids Class?

For the safety of your child and your own peace of mind, we use a child check-in system for our nursery and Kids Classes. You'll find a volunteer standing near the check-in stations to assist you if you have questions. Our check-in system will print a name tag sticker for your child and you’ll receive a unique security label that you’ll use to pick up your child after the service has concluded.

  • Are there accommodations for nursing moms?

Yes, you'll find a quiet and comfortable nursing mom's room located next to our nursery and kids classrooms. We understand taking an infant to church can be a challenge and we want to make it as easy as possible. Feel free to use this room where you can watch a livestream of the service and care for your baby.

  • What is the health policy for nursery & Kids Classes?

To ensure the health of every child in our nursery, we ask that you keep your child at home or with you during the service if you suspect them to have a serious communicable illness or disease.

    A few things to consider:

    • Have they had a fever in the past 24 hours?
    • Have they vomited or had diarrhea in the past 24 hours?
    • Do they have a severe cold or cough?
    • Do they have green or yellow mucus?
    • Are there any unexplained rashes or inflammations of the skin?
    • Is there any redness or discharge from the eyes?

Thank you for helping us keep our children and volunteers healthy!
